听力原文:F: What I can't make out you is why you are so keen on the Layer-de-la-Haye house. Why on earth should we choose, actually choose, to live out in a village, even if it is a popular village. You know that I would love to live in town and...
M: ...and be boxed in by a thousand other houses I suppose~ Surrounded by a thousand faceless neighbors. No, let' s go for the village. After all I'm the one who has to do all the traveling. Back and forth to London every day. And I would rather add a 15 minutes bus ride to the train ride than be--How does it go?--cabin' d, cribb' d confi' d.

听力原文:Conversations are really kind of interesting. I guess it's a kind of hobby of mine to listen to conversations that I can hear in public. It is amazing how different the style, or the tone or the content of different conversations can be and to listen to the differences in the language that people use when they speak to different people.
If you're ever in a bookstore or department store, it's interesting to hear how the same salesperson talks to different people. There're other interesting places to listen to conversations too. I think, and one place that I've found is on bus trips. People often talk to each other as if no one else were there. I guess they think people can't hear their conversations.
Recently I was on a bus, and I was listening to a conversation of two people behind me. I can't really say I was listening. I guess it would have been hard not to hear it. it was amusing to listen to the two people, though, because they were playing a kind of language, uh, word game about states and state capitals. One person would say the name of the state, and the other person would say the name of the capital.
It sounds like a kind of simple game that doesn't involve much language, and you wouldn't think that it would involve very much conversation, but actually this wasn't the case because they were playing this game. They continued to compliment one another and talk about how much they knew about history and how many of the other things that they could or couldn't remember about those places from their trips or from their reading. It was really kind of fun to listen to them.

Man’s mind is his tool Of survival. The mind is used to gain, use, store, and recall knowledge. It is his mind that enables a famer t0 know what t0 plant, when to harvest it,how to prepare food from the result. It is his mind that enables a hunter to know what he needs to make a spear, how t0 make it,and how to use it.And it is his mind that enables a blacksmith to know how t0 make iron tools. In short,it i s the mind that enables a person to know what to d0 in order tOosurvive.

Man’s mind is his tool for survival, but like all tools,it must be properly used. The mind makes good use 0f knowledge, and knowledge can only be 0btained through reason.Without reason, there is no knowledge, and thus no survival。
You must recognize reality and act in accordance with it in order t0 be successful. To the extent that you use reason as your method of judgment in knowledge and action, you will survive and flourish .If you ignore or escape form. reality you will suffer and die.
It is very important t0 note that survival by reason requires the freedom to act according t0 your reason. That is why people d0 not develop well in the control of others, and can not survive when they are subject t0 foree that destroys their ability to act on reason.

I can pick a date from the past 53 years and know ...
I can pick a date from the past 53 years and know instantly where I was , what happened in the news and even the day of the week. I’ve been able to do this since I was four.
I never feel overwhelmed with the amount of information my brain absorbs my mind seems to be able to cope and the information is stored away realy. When I think of a sad memory, I do what everyone does- try to put it to one side. I don’t think it’s harder for me just because my memory is clearer. Powerful memory doesn’t make my emotions any more acture or vivid. I can recall the day my grandfather died and the sadness I felt when we went to the hosptital the day before. I also remember that the musical paly Hamopened on the Broadway on the same day- they both just pop into my mind in the same way.
